Record Breaking Rams…and not in the good way.
Thankfully the season has come and gone for Derby County as they will begin next season in the English Coca-Cola Championship. However during their time in the English Premier League Derby managed to either break or Equal several dubious records.
Records Broken:
Fewest points in a season (3 points for a win): 15, Sunderland (Premier League, 2005-06) - Derby finished with 11 points
Fewest points in a season (38 games): 15, Sunderland (2005-06) - Derby finished with 11 points
Fewest goals scored in a season: 21, Sunderland (2002-03) - Derby finished with 20
Records Equaled:
Fewest wins in a season: 1, Loughborough (Second Division, 1899-1900) - Derby finished win 1 (v Newcastle 1-0) Most losses in a season (38 games): 29, Sunderland (2005-06) - Derby finished with 29 losses
Most away losses in a season (38 games): 16, Watford (1999-00) - Derby finished with 16 away losses
Fewest goals scored away in a season: 8, joint record: - Derby scored 8 away goals
As you can see Derby’s 2007-2008 Premier League season was more then just a dismal failure it was an utter embarrassment. Only time will tell if these records hold or if some other team coming up will have a worse season the Derby’s.
